Frequently Asked Questions
1. What's the child-to-teacher ratio in your classrooms?
We keep our class sizes small and intimate, with a 4:1 child to caregiver ratio. This allows us to provide personalized attention to each of the 12 children in our program.
2. What's the age range of children you accept?
Our program is designed for children aged 18 months to 5 years old, in a mixed-age classroom setting. This allows for wonderful peer-to-peer learning.
3. Does my child need to be potty trained to enroll?
No, we believe that every child develops at their own pace, and we're here to meet them right where they are! If your child hasn't started potty training before joining us, don't worry at all – we'll gently begin the process together once they're here. If you've already started at home, that's wonderful and very helpful for a smooth transition!
To help them feel comfortable and encourage independence, children are invited to check in at the toilet right when they arrive and can switch into their training underwear for the day. Throughout the day, we'll have consistent check-ins where we'll gently encourage them to sit on the potty. And if an accident happens or a diaper change is needed, we'll do quick and easy standing up diaper changes.
4. How do you handle extreme weather conditions?
-
For heavy rain and/or lightning storms, we'll keep everyone cozy and safe inside our schoolhouse. If it's just a light sprinkle, we might still enjoy some brief outdoor play, so please send your child with appropriate gear like rain boots and raincoats.
-
During our warm Texas summers, we start our day outside to enjoy the cooler morning air, then transition indoors after our morning snack.
-
In the winter, we typically begin our day inside and head outdoors after our morning snack for some fresh air and play.
5. Can I send my child's own food to school?
Yes, absolutely! We ask that each child brings their own morning snack and lunch from home. We're happy to provide a delicious, organic afternoon snack for everyone.
6. How do you accommodate children with food allergies?
We are committed to ensuring every child's safety and well-being. Please let us know all the details of your child's allergies, and we'll work closely with you to create a plan. If we are offering food to the children, we will always have safe and tasty alternatives available for your child.
7. Do children have to wear shoes all the time?
We encourage comfort and natural movement! No, if your child enjoys being barefoot and it's safe to do so, they are welcome to! We only ask that they wear shoes when it's extremely cold outside. Please send them to school in shoes that they can easily take on and off themselves.
